With these images I try to not only capture the stark aesthetics of modernity’s infrastructure but also interrogate broader social, political, and ecological narratives. The motorways, stripped of human presence, become both a symbol of human dominance and a stage for contemplation of the planet’s fragility.
With these images I invite you to reflect on humanity’s role as both creator and dweller within the landscapes we inhabit and alter.
The project features images of seemingly desolate motorways, drawing inspiration from the surrealist legacy of Belgian artist René Magritte’s Empire of Light. It explores the ambiguity of light and darkness, day and night, creating a visual tension that abstracts and redefines the perceived landscape. By juxtaposing elements of romanticism, naturalism, and symbolism, the work constructs a fictional yet deeply experiential universe, encouraging you to question your relationship with the environment.
